4ipnet CPE100 Wireless Outdoor CPE/AP/Repeater

The 4ipnet CPE100 Wireless Outdoor CPE/AP/Repeater is an outdoor wireless device that can function as a CPE to deliver the last-mile bandwidth; or serve as a wireless access point to provide wireless Internet connectivity - either on an outdoor campus or inside a building.

The 802.11 b/g compliant CPE100 is an outdoor wireless device that can be used for dual purposes. First, it can be deployed as a traditional fixed wireless Access Point (AP mode), either indoors or outdoors. Secondly, it can be used as a Customer Premises Equipment (CPE mode) to deliver broadband Internet access, helping Wireless ISPs (WISPs) extend their reach to new residential and business customers in the last mile.

The metal sealed CPE100 is compact in size and weatherproof. Coming with a mounting kit, it can be mounted on a pole or wall. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor usage with high and adjustable RF power (up to 23dBm/200mW) for wider signal coverage range. When in its AP mode, CPE100 also supports repeater function to extend wireless coverage by connecting wirelessly to another WDS capable AP.

The CPE100 is designed with WISP's deployment needs in mind, especially the management capability and access permission control with respect to management roles. The typical solution for providing customers with high-speed Internet services is to partner with a carrier or cable operator that deploys wired broadband access technologies like DSL or cable modems. CPE100 in its CPE mode brings WISPs and Local Telcos a new kind of broadband network infrastructure, which is quick and affordable to deploy in areas that cable has not reached and that DSL cannot serve.

The CPE 100 can be deployed in various environments, for example:

• Hot zones such as business districts, office complexes, airports, hotels, conference centers, recreation areas, and shopping malls.
  
• Wireless CPE for Multi Dwelling Unit (MDU) /Multi Tenant Unit (MTU), such as apartments, dormitories, and office complexes.
  
• Outdoor access point for school campuses, enterprise campuses, or manufacture plants.
  
• Indoor access point for hotels, factories, or warehouses where metal industrial grade devices are preferred.
  
• Public hotspot operation for café, parks, convention centers, shopping malls, or airports.
  
• Wireless coverage for both indoor and outdoor ground for private resorts, acre estate/home's yards, or gulf course communities.
  

High speed by fully compliant with 802 11b/g (up to 54Mbps) and by supporting Turbo-mode. High and adjustable RF power (up to 23dBm/200mW) for wider signal coverage range: In an open field test with 15dBi antenna, the measured throughput is about 12Mbps and 3Mbps at the distance of 1.8Km and 4.6Km respectively. Weatherproof and watertight from its rugged metal housing (IP67 Approved). Power over Ethernet (PoE) built-in for single cable installation. On board Ethernet surge protection. Dual function support: When in its AP mode, CPE100 works like a conventional AP, and can support universal repeater or WDS repeater. When in its CPE mode, it behaves like an AP in the client mode. Its wireless link is connected up to WISP's outdoor wireless backhaul. Its built-in gateway enables WISP subscribers at the premises site to share the connection without the need for extra gateway. Special features that support WISP's revenue generating operation: Web-based administration tool with two types of administrators. For example, WISP administrator can set bandwidth control while local administrator can not (CPE mode). Support for RADIUS accounting (AP mode). Support for multiple user authentication methods (CPE mode): MAC ACL Pre-shared key MAC authentication against RADIUS server 802.1X against RADIUS server Web based login (when deployed under a network access controller such as 4ipnet MSG100) Full range of wireless security mechanisms such as WEP, WPA and WPA2 (802.11i) that are important for enterprise wireless deployments.
